Free domain name
Get a free domain name for your website
LXI gives you a free domain name in the form of a subdomain such as yourname.lxi.be. It is free forever on the Free plan, comes with 5 GB of web hosting and automatic HTTPS, and you can create up to 5 of them. Top level domains like .com are never truly free, so LXI sells them separately and includes the hosting for them on the Free plan.
3 to 63 lowercase letters, digits or hyphens. We check availability on the next page.
What you get with a free LXI domain
A subdomain is your own name in front of an existing domain. Choose annas-photos and your website lives at annas-photos.lxi.be. Visitors use it like any other web address: share it, print it on business cards and let search engines index it.
The address is connected to your free web hosting, so you get 5 GB of space, PHP 8.3, MariaDB and HTTPS from the start. Upload files, install WordPress or publish a site from the AI website builder.
Free subdomain vs. your own domain
| Free lxi.be address | Your own domain | |
|---|---|---|
| Example | yourname.lxi.be | yourname.com |
| Price | €0, forever | Yearly registration fee depending on the extension |
| Ready | Right after you confirm your email | After registration and payment |
| Web hosting | Included, 5 GB | Included on the Free plan, you only pay for the domain |
| Mailboxes | No | Yes, with webmail |
| How many | Up to 5 on the Free plan | As many as you register |
Can you get a free .com domain?
Not permanently. Registries charge a yearly fee for extensions like .com, .de or .eu. Offers advertised as a “free domain” usually tie it to a paid hosting contract or make it free for the first year only. Always check the renewal price and the minimum term.
LXI keeps it simple: your lxi.be address is free for good. If you want your own domain, search for it on the domain page, see the final price before you buy and pay with PayPal. The hosting for that domain is included in the Free plan.
