Domain and contact lookups are also available in RDAP JSON format. There is no traditional WHOIS service on TCP port 43.

Fields and privacy

source distinguishes lxi and registry. assignment distinguishes registered_domain, lxi_subdomain, hosting_contact and external_domain. holder contains only a pseudonymized contact or null. Free LXI subdomains are not separate registry registrations. A hosting contact does not establish legal domain ownership.

For external domains, only technical registry data and registrar information are returned. Names, addresses, phone numbers and private email addresses from registry responses are neither returned nor stored in the lookup cache. The LXI display does not change registrar records.

Limits and errors

Up to 60 requests per minute per IP address. External registry data is cached for up to 15 minutes; HTTP responses may be cached for up to 60 seconds. CORS is enabled for public read requests.

Contact addresses accept text messages. When ownership changes, the previous address is retired and is not assigned to the new customer. Replies from your own mailbox may reveal your own email address.
